Herblaw

(Member Skill)

Intro

Herblaw is the "art" of identifying and mixing herbs with ingredients to make potions in a vial (container).  It is one of the most difficult skills to increase quickly, but is a good skills to make money on.  However, to begin this skill however, you must have completed the Druid Ritual quest.  Herblaw consists of identifying herbs and using them to make potions.  Herbs are small green plants that you can obtain from killing monsters or opening a chest.  If you wish to make money, herbs (if you can collect enough) can make you millions.

Getting Started

To start Herblaw you need to complete the Druidic Ritual Quest (Easy), which gains you 3 levels in Herblaw.  To start you need the following items:

  1. A Water-filled vial (buy empty at the Herblaw shop in Taverly or Entrana Island and fill with water with a fountain or sink.

  2. A Herb.  Dropped from Men, Druids, Chaos Druids, etc.  However you do need to have the required level to identify the herb.  To identify a herb, left-click on it.  If your herblaw level is high enough, you will identify it.

  3. A second Ingredient.  Use the Creating Potions Table to determine which ingredients you need for a certain herb.  If your ingredient needs to be ground (only Blue Dragon Scales and Unicorn Horns), use the ingredient with a pestle and mortar (can be bought from herblaw shop in Taverly or Entrana Island.

Mix all the above together to make a potion.

Example:

For example, to make the simple "Attack Potion," you need to have a Herblaw skill of 3 or more.  The first step is to get a water-filled vial, so simply fill an empty vial with water (use with sink or fountain).  Then get the needed herb and ingredients for the potion, which would be a Guam Leaf and an Eye of Newt.  The Eye of Newt can be found at the Magic Store in Port Sarim.  Then simply use the Guam Leaf and the Eye of Newt with the water-filled vial to make an attack potion.

Herbs

Herblaw requires herbs, which can either be bought (if your very rich) or collected from killing certain monsters.  Most NPC's drop herbs rarely, but the following are the best to collect herbs from:

Monster (Level) Found... Notes
Chaos Druids (19) Edgeville Members Dungeon-Above Blood Rune Chest or after the swing (lvl 57 req.) in Agility Dungeon. Often Drop Herbs, one of the best to get collect herbs from.
Druids (29) Taverly-Streets or in Druids Circle. Drop fair amount of herbs, still one of the best monsters to get herbs from.
Chaos Druid Warriors (44) Agility Dungeon- after Ledge (lvl 40 req.) Drop 1 dose of super defense potion and some herbs and ingredients.
Skeletons(25, 32, 54) Most Dungeons and Agility Dungeon (lvl 49 req.) Drops a few herbs, not much compared to Druids though.

Herb Identification

To identify herbs, get an herb which is unidentified (the herb will only be called Herb if unidentified) Click on the herb to identify it. If you level is high enough, it will identify the herb, but if not, it will keep an an unidentified herb.

Here are the level requirements to identify the herbs:

Herb Experience Required Level
Guam 2.5 exp 3
Marrentill 3.75 exp 5
Tarromin 5 exp 11
Harralander 6 exp 20
Ranarr Weed 7.5 exp 25

Avantoe 10 exp 48

Creating Potions

Once you have identified your herbs, you can then make them into potions. To make a potion, collect a vial and fill it up with water. then use the identified herb with the vial. It will make an unfinished potion. use the second ingredient needed with the unfinished potion to make the potion and get the exp.
